Style Feature: Hats

One thing I'm looking forward to wearing a lot more of this season is hats. A stylish hat is definitely one of Autumn/Winter's must have pieces. Not only are they this season's key trending pieces, they're also necessary for covering up bad hair days when they come and protecting our tresses from those bitterly cold days.

My personal favourite this season is the felt fedora!! I managed to bag myself a gorgeous floppy, wide-brimmed one from H&M last week but it's not due to be delivered until early November :-(. But still itching to have one in my closet I purchased another fedora when my Mum and I went shopping the other day; this one was from Primark and it is so stunning, I couldn't believe that it was at Primark that I found such a beauty!

Ways To Style

 

Fedora - H&M, Belt - H&M, Boots - Kurt Geiger, Coat - New Look, Sweater - Zara,
Leather Trousers - River Island, Nail Polish - Rimmel London, Lipstick - Mac Ruby Woo

Highlight this dark colour palette with a tan pair of boots and a tan belt. For a more feminine look, wrap the belt around your waist to cinch in the over-sized coat and top this off with bold, red lipstick. I can't wait to style my own fedora with an over-sized coat!

Chain Bracelets - River Island, Beanie - Asos, Bag - Asos, Sneakers - Nike 

Beanies are quite easy to style, you can almost wear them with anything. For a simple look such as this one add a flare of edginess with bold accessories and a cool pair of sneakers.

Lipstick - Ilia, Sweater - River Island, Skirt - Givenchy

This season it's all about placing a feminine spin on the SnapBack. Wear yours with an over-sized sweater, a pencil skirt, the highest of heels and a clutch bag for a fun evening out. A dark lipstick colour adds a touch of boldness and completes your look.

My Style Journal: Six Months On...

Wow guys, it's been exactly six months since I started blogging and I've really enjoyed sharing my outfit looks with you guys - my devoted readers :) I think that I've learnt a lot about fashion and style since I started blogging and one thing I've really enjoyed is playing with trends and adapting them to my own personal style. 

 

To celebrate My Style Journal's six months anniversary I've compiled just few of my favourite style posts on the blog so far:

Relaxed in Uniqlo

As you can probably tell by now, my style is quite laid back. I think comfort is definitely a rule of thumb when considering your personal style; you must be comfortable in what you wear at all times - unless you're rocking 5.5 inch Louboutins, of course :P
 

On a Cold Spring Day 

I just love how edgy this look was! That's the thing about style, it's so versatile. One day you can step out looking as chic and fabulous as Victoria Beckham and the next day as edgy and cool as Miley Cyrus. My favourite part of this outfit was that cape!! I can't thank my brother enough for buying it for me as a Christmas present. 
 

Down in London Town

I remember how much this London trip was such a welcome distraction from my dissertation. I had so much fun with my friends Ellee, Tej and Eman running around London without a care in the world!!

The monochrome trend is probably one of my favourites of all the Spring/Summer 2013 trends because it is so simple and you can do so much with it. Look out for an upcoming post where I've restyled this skirt.

An Afternoon in the Park

Hi everyone!!! Guess who just submitted her dissertation??? Yaaayyy, I'm so happy to be finally done with university. Wow, that makes me sound pretty old :-/ Lol. I can only thank God for seeing me through all these 4 years though, and now it's on to the next stage of my life. I look forward to what God has in store for me :)

Well, I'm hoping to start blogging a lot more regularly now that I'm uni-free so keep your eyes peeled on my-stylejournal ;). Today, I went down to the park near my house. It's such a lovely space and I can't wait to have a picnic there on a hot summer's day. I've also been waiting for a nice warm day to wear this pretty, denim, skater skirt that I purchased a few weeks ago from River Island, and even with the prospects of rain I decided to brave the weather outside and wear this outfit. Thank God it wasn't too cold! 

Down In London Town

Hi guys and girls! So last week I went down to London with a few friends and I had such a good time! It was a nice break from my dissertation and I loved running around London with my friends. It's always nice to get away from your natural setting and enjoy the experiences that another city has to offer. 

Here's what I wore on my London venture. I love simple colours and prints, so I decided to pair my floral trousers with block colours. I didn't want to stray too much from the predominant colours on my trousers so I thought I'd go for red flats as I love that red and pink contrast.  

Easy Breezy

Hi everyone!!! Wow! I think this is a new record for the number of days - or should I say weeks - that I've gone without blogging! Yikes! But I'm really excited to have nearly completed my dissertation so I assure you lovely readers that you'll definitely be getting more blog posts from me ;) Oh, and also look out for a revamped look on my blog :D. 

Well, the other day I felt a bit ill from all the work I've been doing and I woke up with a painful case of conjunctivitis. It was terribly uncomfortable! So, when the sun came out in full brightness with the light breeze complimenting such a lovely day (deep much), I decided to go for a little walk to cheer myself up and to get some fresh air, here's what I wore. 

Since it was such a breezy day I knew it was bound to get a bit chilly at times, so I couldn't leave my house without draping this cropped leather jacket over my shoulders.

This Spring/Summer's most exciting trend for me is the monochrome trend. The minimalist in me loves this trend because of it's simplicity and ease. Anyone can pull off the monochrome look with what I like to call "effortless ease." I even went monochrome for my birthday dinner last weekend and I chose to let the black and white stand out by opting for a nude pair of shoes and a nude clutch (scroll down for my birthday look).

On A Cold Spring Day

Happy Belated Easter, everyone!!!

Again, I have to apologise for not posting as regularly as I should, but hey, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's got a pile of uni work to get on with. Anyway, for a while now I've been reviewing the clothes in my cupboard and my shoe collection, trying to get things out that I haven't worn for a while and even things I've never worn before. I particularly enjoy doing this because I get to restyle things I've worn before and I make more (desperately needed) space in my cupboard by donating some of them to the Salvation Army. 

The other day I found this beautiful pair of fur-lined boots that I purchased like 3 years ago but I have never worn them, eek *covers face* lol. So I thought, why not wear them now since the cold has decided to stick around longer than we all expected. Today, I went shopping and for a late lunch with a good friend and here's what I wore - and I didn't forget those boots too ;)
